This project involved the refurbishment, extension and conversion of a redundant paper mill warehouse to form a cutting-edge photography studio and ancillary workspaces in North London.

James, working on behalf of Gresford Architects, oversaw design and construction in the role of Project Architect. Planning permission was successfully attained for a contemporary extension incorporating zinc cladding and reglit glazing panels, specifically designed to contrast with the traditional Victorian architecture.

As a photographer’s studio, technical design saw the incorporation of complex mechanical and electrical solutions for specific environmental requirements. James also worked directly with the building owner and specialist sub-contractors to adapt and reuse vintage appliances and fittings in the architecture of the space.
