Our work covers both residential and commercial sectors of varying scale. There is no project too large or too small, but all of our work is undertaken with an emphasis on quality. BA(Hons) MArch ARB

James founded Allen Architects in 2019.

​

Having gained his BA and Diploma studying at Newcastle and Kingston University respectively, he gained valuable experience working on both small scale commercial and residential developments in Surrey, oftentimes in the context of ‘Listed Buildings’, in the ‘Green Belt’, and in ‘Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty’.

​

In 2010, James joined Tom Gresford in Hackney, and under Tom’s guidance developed an extensive knowledge of planning policies specific to the London Boroughs, and wide ranging experience overseeing all stages of the design and construction processes. James became a qualified architect and registered with the ARB in 2015.

​

James believes that an architect’s ‘design philosophy’ should be organic and evolve everyday with each new experience gained. There is no one single ‘best approach’ to architecture other than to at ‘core’ respond to and resolve our client’s brief. Whilst every brief will be different, the architect should always retain the highest levels of professionalism and quality.

BA(Hons) MArchD ARB

​

Becky attended the University of Lincoln for her undergraduate degree, before completing her Masters at Oxford Brookes University.  She went on to join Gresford Architects in 2016 where she worked on a wide range of ‘design-led’ projects, many with sustainable credentials and a unique material palette. She worked on several Passivhaus & EnerPHit accredited residential schemes from inception through to completion.

Having worked at a range of small architectural practices across Lincolnshire, Oxfordshire and London, including RTK and Adam Richards Architects, Becky has developed a special interest in bespoke architectural detailing within the residential sector. She has worked with a wide variety of construction methods including CLT, hempcrete and exposed pink concrete.

Becky is passionate about providing beautiful & sustainable spaces for people to live, work and play in. She values the input and inspiration coming from clients and the design team and encourages these original nuances that make every project distinctive.
