Freelands Road demonstrates that great spaces don’t always require extension. Allen Architects secured planning permission for a modestly sized rear bay addition and reconfigured the internal layout of this traditional Victorian property in Bromley to create an open-plan, multi-functional living space.

Attached to the new bay extension, a glass box ‘oriel window’ forms integrated bench seating with plentiful natural daylight, and creates the perfect setting for reading a book or to enjoy being ‘in nature’ from the comforts of a space sheltered from the elements.

The ‘letterbox’ window above countertop level was achieved through careful co-ordination of the structural engineer’s design with the site parameters and this beautiful bespoke kitchen.
